Election dates for Punjab and KP are requested to be "quickly announced" by President Alvi.
Pakistan President Arif Alvi has urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to “immediately announce” the date of general elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that the people of the provinces have been waiting for the elections for a long time and the ECP should ensure that the process is completed in a fair, free and transparent manner. He also said that the ECP should ensure that all political stakeholders are given equal access to the polls and the process is conducted in an impartial manner. He further urged the ECP to ensure that political parties and candidates are not subjected to any form of discrimination. The ECP has yet to announce a date for the elections but is expected to do so in the coming weeks.
